Reconnect with nature and find your calm today

There was a time when I believed slowing down was something I would do when life became less busy.
Like many people, I balanced a demanding career with the responsibilities of everyday life. My days were filled with meetings, decisions, deadlines and the constant feeling of needing to be "on". I became so accustomed to living at that pace that I barely noticed how disconnected I had become from myself.
Eventually, that constant pressure caught up with me.
I experienced burnout and became seriously unwell.
Recovery wasn't quick, and it wasn't straightforward. As I slowly began to rebuild, I found myself returning to nature again and again.
The woodland didn't ask anything of me.
It didn't expect me to achieve, perform or have all the answers.
It simply offered space.
Space to breathe.
Space to notice.
Space to begin feeling like myself again.
Through those quiet moments outdoors, I discovered Forest Bathing—not as a quick fix, but as a gentle practice of presence, curiosity and reconnection. It became an important part of my own journey back to wellbeing.
As I spent more time in nature, I realised I wasn't becoming someone new.
I was rediscovering parts of myself that had quietly been suppressed or forgotten beneath the pace and noise of everyday life—curiosity, wonder, creativity and a sense of calm that I thought I'd lost.
Nature didn't ask me to become someone different.
It gently helped me remember who I'd always been.
That's what Pause in Nature means to me.
Not escaping life, but creating the space to remember who we are beneath all the expectations, responsibilities and distractions that so easily pull us away from ourselves.
That experience inspired me to train as a Forest Bathing Guide and create Pause in Nature, so I could offer others the same opportunity to slow down, reconnect and discover what nature might have waiting for them.
Alongside running Pause in Nature, I continue to work as an Operations Director. I understand the pressures that many people face because I've lived them too. I know what it feels like to carry responsibility, to juggle competing demands and to search for balance in a fast-moving world.
My aim isn't to help people escape their lives.
It's to help them rediscover themselves within them.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, navigating change, seeking a deeper connection with nature or simply longing for a slower pace, you'll be warmly welcomed.
You don't need any experience.
You don't need to know anything about Forest Bathing.
You don't even need to think of yourself as an "outdoors person."
You simply need to arrive, exactly as you are.
Because sometimes the most meaningful journey is simply finding your way home to yourself.
🌳 If I could spend an afternoon with one tree, it would be an oak.
I admire its quiet strength, deep roots and enduring presence. It reminds me that growth isn't always visible, but it's always happening.
🌱 Spring is the season that fills me with hope.
Closely followed by autumn's rich colours, winter's stillness and, finally, the long days of summer. Every season offers its own invitation if we're willing to notice.
🍃 I never set out with a plan when I'm in nature.
I let my intuition guide me. Sometimes I'm drawn to a tree, sometimes a river, sometimes I simply sit and listen. Other days, I find myself writing, taking photographs or quietly following whatever catches my attention.
🌬️ The sound of the wind moving through the trees always stops me.
No matter where my mind has wandered, the whisper of the canopy gently calls me back to the present. It quietens my thoughts, softens the pace of the day and reminds me that nature is always inviting us to pause—if we're willing to listen.
📖 Many of my poems begin with a single moment outdoors.
A shaft of light through the trees. The scent of pine after rain. A question carried on the wind. Nature has a beautiful way of turning ordinary moments into quiet invitations.
I believe nature meets us exactly where we are, asking nothing of us except that we arrive.
I believe slowing down isn't falling behind; it's creating space to notice what truly matters.
I believe every season has something to teach us, and every walk offers the possibility of seeing something new.
I believe wonder isn't something we lose as adults—it simply waits for us to pay attention again.
I believe we are not separate from nature; we are part of it, and remembering that can quietly transform how we live.
I believe some of life's most meaningful conversations happen in silence, beneath the canopy of trees.
I believe healing doesn't always come from doing more. Sometimes it begins by allowing ourselves to simply be.
And above all, I believe that sometimes the smallest pause can become the beginning of the biggest change.
Before you leave this page, I have a small invitation.
Pause for a moment.
Take one slow breath.
Listen...
Can you hear the wind?
Notice what it does as it moves through the trees.
Allow yourself to be here, just for this moment.
Perhaps your journey back to nature—and back to yourself—has already begun.
I'd be honoured to walk a little of that journey with you.
Warmly
Yvonne
